A rainy day in Zimbabwe

Hi!
This has been a quite heavy day. It didnt start good with a lot of rain and of course me&one more girl had to go for a longwalk with the 4 LM's(4 lions in the age of 10 months)+one lionhandler!!For those who doesnt know the 4 LM's-they are VERY playful&lively especially when it rains, so usually there has to be 2 lionhandlers on each walk, and we had just one.So we went for 15 min.and suddenly we realized that the lions were gone....OOOOPS!!!Not good!So we spread and started to search for them, but no lions anywhere. We spread again and after a 15-20 min.search the lionhandler found them=)At the end of the walk Mana&Lozi started to stalk a pony&its mummy, and since they were just 30-40 m away Mana suddenly had jumped on the little horse and were hanging from the horse with her claws planted in his back-NOT GOOD.The lions usually stalk the horses but the lionhandlers are suppose to take the lions away from the horses before something like this happens. Poor little pony:( I think its gonna be scared for life..
We just had an induction in snakes and that was very interesting. I hold one of the snakes(a Harold after the newspaper in Zimb.or red-lipped snake)-it was quite scary actually because it was moving all the time,hehe..
Yesterday was a very good day. I was on 4 lionswalks and two of them alone with the lionhandlers. I took a lot of photos and film and I had a very good time playing with the lions. You know:Seaweed or BIG elephantpoo on a stick:-D. They loooove it!=)

Im still going strong here at the Antelope Park! Yesterday, a few of us got out to Dollar Block (2,5 hour carride on a very bumpy road-puh!!!), where they have released 7 lions that used to be here in the park. We drove the car into the park\enclosure where the lions were, and it was amazing to see them in the "wild"! One of the male lions, Luke, chased the car when we left, and I got it all on film-yeah=). There are some photage from this trip: The picture with two lions shows the female lions on Dollar Block, who really wanted to get inside the car! So the lionhandlers had to chase them away (with a waterbottle..!?=). And there are also pictures from the Ostrichfarm that we visited(they are so funny-looking,hehe)and hopefully some other pictures.
So long!

News from Antelope Park

Im still having a wonderful time in Zimbabwe. The people here are great and the lions are just getting cuter and cuter=) In this last week a lot of the voulenters has gone home and thats very sad!!! Two new girls arrived today and I think that makes us 14 in total. 1,5 week ago we were 24...October was a popular month.
Im gonna try to get some more pictures in to this post, but I'm really not quite sure how I'm gonna do it...hehe..Andreas has done a good job trying to tell me how to do it, but I think I left my brain back home(Im on a loooong vacation u know), so I cant remember now;-)
Today I have been up to the breedingprogram with the big lions and cleansed their enclosures for bones/poo and refilled the waterbin. It was hard work in the heat, but I loooove it:-D We went straight in to the pool afterwards to cool us down-nice!
Im off this afternoon, but at 4-5 o'clock we are going on a sunsetcruise with Jim(one of the projectmanagers). IF it doesnt start to rain....OR some stupid clients decide to book the sunsetcruise 5 min.before...=) The rainseason is around the corner so it usually starts to rain around 4.
So long...Im back in 4 weeks.

Fra asken til ilden;-)

Rett fra bryllup til løvene i Afrika! =)
